Christopher is afraid that if Leo takes away his pain he will go back to cutting himself again and he knows what Leo thinks of that. But he doesn't want to be a disappointment to his lover, either. So for now, he just lets Leo hold him and he drops his head onto the older man's shoulder and just cries softly.

Pike smiles softly and pulls Jim back towards him.

"Good," he says quietly. "I was hoping there was more to this than simply fun and games. I needed to make sure that if, God forbid, something were to happen to McCoy, Christopher would still be welcome on this ship and be protected. I can see that you would do that."
