He'd stayed quiet on the matter. In fact, he'd not really spoken much. Time was spent with Spock, but he'd stopped arguing. Arguing was a very tiring thing to do nowadays. But they were getting ready to land on New Vulcan and he wanted to protest. Wanted Spock to take this on too because it was something that he wanted, however he knew it wasn't going to happen.

"We're almost there, Spock. ETA is five minutes."

"Thank you, Captain," Spock answered from where he sat at his station. He never called his mate by his first name while on the bridge. To Spock it would have been disrespectful to do so; married or not. He turned to his communication relay and contacted his father, sending the message that he and Jim would be arriving within planet side within the next half hour.

Except where they hadn't been on the bridge just yet when he'd said it, he was giving Spock the information before they got to the bridge and he was starting to hate hearing Spock call him that, Captain or not. Moving over to the Captain's chair, he sat down rather then pace like he wanted to do. Though eventually he just gets up and walks off the bridge, giving the bridge over to one of the other officers. He needed to collect his thoughts, something.

Spock watched Jim leave the bridge and sighed softly. He looked up as his own replacement came on to the bridge. Standing, he moved into the turbo lift intent on finding his mate.

Jim eventually finds himself in the botanical bay, not really a place he much likes, that was Sulu's thing, but he sits down and leans back against the wall letting his eyes close.

It didn't take long for Spock to find Jim and he stepped inside the bay, the door hissing close behind him.

"Jim... if you are ready, we should make our way to the shuttle bay..."

If they were ready... Did he really have a choice in the matter? But he gives a nod and gets up moving over and leaning into Spock's side, letting him lead them to the shuttle bay.

Spock stops Jim, by taking hold of his arm.

"Jim... if this is not what you want, then just tell me, please. I will not force you into doing this, only to have you hate me for it later."

He shakes his head pulling his arm back.

"I want this, Spock. I just wish you'd reconsider it as well." Though he does pause for a moment. He doesn't know these Vulcan doctors and a part of him wants his best friend there for reassurance purposes. "I do want this and I'm not going to hate you."

"Jim, if I thought you could handle having to top me, then I would reconsider, but you are uncomfortable with the idea and I won't push you into it since it is not something you wish to do."

"And you don't get that every first time in life is uncomfortable for just about everyone. So you saying that is stupid and illogical. Just because I'm uncomfortable with the idea doesn't mean it won't happen. The only reason it would never happen is if you didn't allow it."

Spock gave a heavy sigh and released his hold on Jim's arm.

"Perhaps this is not something that is ready to be decided then," he said quietly. "I will let my father know that we will meet with him tomorrow perhaps."

"No, Spock, you won't be telling him any such thing. We're going now. It's your decision whether you change your mind or not, but I'm not changing mine."

Spock turned to look at Jim carefully.

"You can not start something like this while being stressed, Jim. It could cause the carrier gene to be rejected. Please... you do need to calm down if this is truly what you want."

Jim raises a slight brow, "I am calm, Spock. You're the one that doesn't seem to be calm. Now let's go."

"Considering you have spoken to me as little as possible over the past two days, I would find that hard to believe." Spock turns then and leaves the room, headed for the shuttle bay.

"A man is allowed to think in silence, Spock. On top of that it wasn't like in those few days that you tried to strike up a conversation."

"I will not argue with you right now, James," Spock said with a trace of anger in his voice. "You have made your point quite clear on the matter. We are due to meet with my father in a matter of minutes which means we must leave now."

"I haven't made any point clear save for the fact that I still want this." He says shaking his head, since he didn't understand Spock's anger, but he just heads down and slips into the shuttle.

Once inside the shuttle, Spock sits down and waits until they leave the shuttle bay before speaking once more.

"I think we should speak to the doctors first and then perhaps you and I need to talk longer tonight before we go through with the procedure itself."

That gets a slight frown out of Jim and he shakes his head, he doesn't want to wait. But he gives a slight sigh, "If you think that's what is best, Spock."

"I want your true opinion, James," Spock answers back, that underlying tone of unhappiness evident. "I do not want you doing something only because you think it is what I want."

"Stop it, Spock. I gave you my true opinion. I want this, so I don't see what there is to talk about. The only thing I wanted was for you to go with it too, to not be upset later on when you can't do what YOU want since I know you wanted to carry too."

Spock sighs softly and leans back in his chair.

"It is illogical to be upset about not doing something when you clearly are capable of doing so, Jim. Yes, I do want to carry a child for us, but for both of us to do so might be dangerous and as I have said previously, you are not comfortable with the idea of topping me... and I can live with that."

"Why? Tell me why you're okay with it." Jim asks watching him from where he sat. "I just don't want you to miss out on the opportunity."

"Jim... just because you carry and I do not does not mean that I will miss out on the opportunity. As your bonded mate I will be able to feel everything you go through and I will have a tentative link to our child through you."

He gives a slight nod and moves over kissing Spock softly. "Okay, Spock."

Spock returns the kiss, fingers tracing along Jim's face softly.

"We will be fine, James," he says softly.

"Of course we will be."

He kisses him again then sits down.

"This is still going to be a bit weird."

"I will be with you through all of it, T'hy'la," Spock reminded him gently. "And soon we shall have a family of our own."

Jim gives him a small smile, "Something that I just can't wait for."

It didn't take long for the shuttle to land and Spock followed Jim out to find Sarek waiting for them along with the Ambassador.

"Father, Ambassador. It is good to see you both again."

Jim gives a nod to both Sarek and the Ambassador, giving a small smile to them both. Though he's really at a loss of what to say to them, so he doesn't say anything at all after their initial greeting.
